Why do we need SNMP data collection
Data collection on objects in your system can be used for multiple reasons:

For devices that do not allow to put an internal agent within them and that respond to SNMP (usually networking devices), high frequency SNMP data collection, is the only method to perform the mentioned objectives.

The SNMP data collection agent is built for large scale operations. It can collect information from thousands of nodes concurrently while collecting 10's of thousands of OIDs within cycles of close to a minute.

The product allows defining event triggers based on the data collected. The event triggers will launch a user defined command, which for example can be an SNMP trap or any other command.

The agent was built to perform this operation very fast using asynchronous operations and complex algorithms. The agent does not wait for a response from a given node to monitor other nodes.

It contains many flow control parameters that enables it to work in all kinds of networks, with equipments that support the SNMP protocol in different ways.
The agent supports on the node level:

• Monitoring frequency
• Monitoring hours
• Timeout of no reply
• Retry count
• The number of SNMP queries sent concurrently to a given node
• The number of SNMP OIDs combined in a single request
